R programmer for the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research

To support their statistics team, the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research are looking for a motivated, reliable and independent person to join their team as a temporary team member for one year immediately or upon agreement as R programmer (80 - 100%).

The Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (www.sakk.ch) is the cancer research network in Switzerland and employs over 70 people at the Competence Center of SAKK. In line with our vision “We bring progress to cancer care”, we have been conducting clinical trials in oncology as a non-profit organization since 1965.

To support our statistics team, we are looking for a motivated, reliable and independent person to join our team as a temporary team member for one year immediately or upon agreement as R programmer (80 - 100%).

Your tasks:

  • Advance the development of SAKK internal R packages
  • Program and maintain R functions for figures and tables to make the design and analyses of clinical trials more efficient, and ensure high quality and reproducibility
  • Contribute to the initiative to validate R at SAKK
  • Provide R programming support and advice to biostatisticians and statistical programmers within the statistics team
  • Participate in unit and cross-functional activities aimed at optimizing and standardizing processes

About you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree / Diploma in statistics, computer science or a related field
  • Proficient in R
  • Experienced in developing R packages in GitHub
  • Experience as a statistical programmer or biostatistician in clinical trials in oncology would be advantageous
  • Knowledge in statistical methods like survival analysis, linear, logistic and Cox regression and mixed models would be an asset
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and in teams
  • A team-oriented mindset and proactive communication skills, with the ability to effectively share ideas and feedback within the team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Ability to communicate in German
